Oh my, I had intended to keep this more up-to-date... So what have we been up to?
This was a really easy move! I think we're getting to be pros at this after having moved twice last year! It probably also helped that we have gotten rid of a lot of stuff in preparation for moving abroad. And we're so grateful for all the help we had both down in St. Louis and up in Bloomington! It is wonderful to have 'family' in the body of Christ. It was also kind of fun to move back into a house we had lived in only a year ago because rather than figuring out where everything went from scratch, we just opened up a box and tried to remember where we'd kept that stuff before.
After having this home rented for a year and then listed with a realtor for three months without selling we were seriously motivated to spruce it up to sell it before fall weather hit. So we did some painting, installing gutter covers, and re-sealing of our counter tops... and surely other stuff too but this stage was a while ago now and I don't remember it all. It was nice after renting for a year for Lucas to get to put his handyman skills to good use. And I know the kids liked helping Papi too! I think having three kids and a few more years of life under my belt has helped me mellow about the mess of sprucing too, so I really didn't find it near as disruptive to my home as I probably have in the past.
Coming 'home' and intending to move abroad soon naturally lends itself to wanting a lot of time with the ones we love, so we've really enjoyed being able to do that too. Time over at Grandparents house, birthday parties, visiting the farm during harvest, playing with cousins, reconnecting with neighbors and people from Church. We have so many precious relationships in Illinois and it has been sweet to enjoy them!
Resting and Refueling
Aah, a quiet street after living on a noisy one. Familiar neighbors and a smaller town. A church where I already know everybody. It has been nice to rest from all the new challenges after being in St. Louis and knowing Nicaragua is coming up. It's also been a good time of hearing from God and refreshing and refining the vision he gave us years ago to spend our lives helping others, and "seek another mans' wealth rather than our own" (1 Cor 10:24). We really desire to bring good things to Nicaragua and to carry it in Jesus' name. That can't be done if we don't stay CLOSE to Jesus ourselves. And we are finding such sweetness and growth as our desire for His presence is being rekindled. Really, even in the midst of frustrating circumstances and waiting, we are finding that "in His presence is fullness of joy!" (Ps 16:11)
So that's what we've been up to... more to come!
